This year, Canon has been very adventurous with its camera designs. The new Canon Powershot S90IS 10MP digital camera may not have the most powerful specs in the market but it is surely a point-and-shoot model to look out for in terms of design.

This is a compact little model, measuring at just 3.9 x 2.3 x 1.9 inches and weighing at 6.2 ounces. Overall, the Canon Powershot S90IS 10MP digital camera sports a stylish retro design, complete with a sleek black matte finish and a pop-up flash on the top of the camera. This model will definitely appeal to the style conscious consumer. Unlike many other camera models, such as Sony compact digital cameras that has ultra-modern designs, the Canon Powershot S90IS 10MP digital camera has a rather timeless design that I personally just love!

The Canon Powershot S90IS 10MP digital camera comes with a 10MP image sensor. It also comes with a 3.8x optical zoom. This model uses a f/2.0 lens that is perfect for taking pictures in low lighting conditions. It is also a wide-angle lens that enables you to capture more in every shot. Behind the camera, you will find a huge 3″ LCD display. It has an anti-reflection coating and a wide viewing angle that allows you take shots at odd angle.

The Canon Powershot S90IS digital camera ships with a battery pack, manuals, neck strap, USB cable and an AV cable. At the time of writing, this model is not released yet but is available for pre-order. It is currently already one of the best-selling cameras on the internet.

Canon Powershot SX10IS 10MP Digital Camera – A Quick Review

Friday, September 3rd, 2010

When you want high-quality pictures with an easy-to-use, low hassle camera, the Canon Powershot SX10IS is the camera for you. Not only do you get brilliant photos, this Powershot offers room to grow with custom settings in a simple layout and format. Perhaps in the future you’ll want to be able to set aperture priority. That’s not a problem with the SX10IS.

The picture quality exceeds its previous versions at higher ISOs, as the Powershot has continually improved in this category. The face detection software also has seen vast improvements and the lighting and tone come in clear. Now the Powershot reduces red-eye without the use of the reduction lamp (that red light blinking just before snapping the shot).

One of the features that sets the SX10IS apart from its competitors is the flip-out, rotating viewfinder. This allows for less intrusiveness while trying to catch that perfect portrait, among many other advantages you will immediate find when you pick up the SX10IS.

The SD card is located separately from the battery compartment that, for those that have use previous versions of the Powershot know how cumbersome it can be to try to access the card in that location. Now you can simply slide the card in and out for a few quick pictures and then print from an SD-ready printer.

Now that we’ve mentioned the battery, it’s important to note that the Powershot SX10IS has a low battery warning unlike some previous versions, which is helpful at times when you’re on the run and about to go to that special event where you really need your camera.

With a 28mm wide-angle lens, you can capture those up-close and personal or large group shots that you want. The crisp 20X zoom is also a great benefit as it delivers focused pictures from a distance.

The controls on the SX10IS are conveniently located with a dedicated on/off button and scroll wheel. There is also a separate video button for those moments when action grabs your attention in an instant and you don’t want to fiddle with menus to get to take a video. The Powershot SX10IS is another in a long line of excellent Powershot models and continues to build on the previous ones, and certainly continues to improve.

Digital SLR Camera Reviews – Best Picks

Wednesday, September 1st, 2010

A digital single lens reflex camera is an incredibly versatile and flexible piece of photographic equipment that can help you take the best photos of your life. There are several brands to choose from today that all have interchangeable lenses, allowing you to choose from a wide variety of shots from wide angle and closeups to telephoto images.

But before you decide that a digital single lens reflex camera is just what you need, first consider how you plan on using it. If you mainly like to take snapshots of your family and friends and maybe some special events like weddings and anniversaries, you probably don’t really need a camera as sophisticated and complicated as a digital SLR. In fact, a compact digital camera with a fixed lens will probably do the job just fine. So you can save yourself the added expense and steeper learning curve associated with dSLRs.

But on the other hand, if you are a photography hobbyist or perhaps you plan on increasing your photography skills in the near future, then a digital SLR camera will probably fit your needs well. Or perhaps you need a camera that can do double duty as both a simple fully automated point and shoot camera and a more sophisticated manual camera too, as more than one person with different skill levels will be using it. Happily, a digital SLR can fit the bill here too as most of them also have completely automated settings that can be used by almost anyone.

But if you decide that a digital SLR will work for you, which camera is best for you? Most likely you will need to do some research to find out what models are available in your price range and then read some digital SLR camera reviews online to learn more about which models are the best in that price range.

But from reading many of the online digital slr camera reviews by both independent reviewers and consumers, we have found two cameras that we can highly recommend based on their popularity in these unbiased reviews. For beginners, the Pentax ist DX is often mentioned as an extremely easy camera to learn and use and with a 18-55mm zoom lens and costs just under $1,000. For more advanced users that require even more features and capabilities, the Nikon D70s is well reported on by almost all reviewers that we saw, and with a 18-70mm lens, it costs around $1200. Of course, both of these cameras can be bought for less if you really make a good search for them online.

Regardless of which digital single lens reflex camera that you choose, they will all bring a higher level of photographic capability and sophistication to any photo that you take. If you follow the guidelines and tips provided above it can help you decide whether or not a digital SLR will fit your needs and help you decide also on which one will work best for you.

Discover the Best All-Around Compact Digital Camera

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010

That camera may just be the Canon PowerShot SX110 IS.

Canon describes the SX110 this way:

“From a 10x optical zoom lens to advanced Canon technology that automatically gives you the best shot, the 9.0-megapixel PowerShot SX110 IS packs impressive value. Advanced Face Detection Technology automatically sets focus, exposure, flash and white balance for beautiful portraits and group shots. Sharp, steady close-ups are easy with the powerful zoom and Canon’s Optical Image Stabilizer Technology. The slim and modern-looking SX110 IS is sized to go everywhere, and you’ll never miss a detail with the big, bright LCD screen.”

You need to take the manufacturer’s propaganda with a grain of salt, or at least check to make sure they are not just blowing smoke.

So I did check it out. I went to many camera review sites to find out what the review pros had to say. They were in agreement that this is one fine camera.

Here’s what the photo geek at DigitalCameraReview had to say about this amazing camera:

“…if picture quality, easy of use, and performance are your primary concerns, buying this PowerShot is also the safest bet around: it’s an unquestionably powerful camera with few blemishes, and thus a buying decision that few buyers (who aren’t put off by its looks, size, or noise, perhaps) will have reason to regret.”

I also checked what the buyers of the product said about their purchase. I found that users’ reviews at DPReview.com had rated the camera at 4+ stars (out of 5 possible). And if you read the reviews at Amazon.com, you will find similar results. In fact, an amazing 89% of buyers who chose to leave a review rated the PowerShot SX110 at 4 or 5 stars (out of 5 possible).

Some of the features that users have favored are:

  • 9.0 Megapixel Image Sensor
  • 10x Optical Zoom
  • 3.0″ LCD
  • Motion Detection Technology
  • Red Eye Correction
  • Uses AA batteries – very easy to replace almost anywhere, if necessary
  • Great Price – under $230

There is a huge number and variety of compact digital cameras. To pick a good one is sometimes a daunting task. You could run down to your local Best Buy or Target and pick up the one that is on sale at the moment. Chances are you will get a camera that takes decent photos for putting online at Walgreen’s or Facebook for you friends and family to view.

But if you want a camera that takes consistently great pictures and has a feature set that puts you, the photographer, in the driver’s seat, then consider the Canon PowerShot SX110 IS.

While I was checking on the Canon PowerShot SX110 IS, I found some other awesome cameras that certainly deserve our attention. If you have a special set of criteria for a camera, such as the most zoom available to take great bird photos while on vacation in the Florida Everglades, you need to see some of the other cameras I have rated as #1 in their class.
On my web site (http://www.digital-photographic-resources.com) I also reveal some great photography software to help edit those super photos.

Canon Powershot E1 Pink Digital Camera Review

Tuesday, August 17th, 2010

I have had this camera for a little over a week now and I am totally in love. Here is a list of the things that I have found about this camera that I absolutely love:

1. This camera takes pictures fast, so you can capture the exact picture you were going for, not the picture 3-5 seconds after your perfect shot.

2. The Canon Powershot E1 Pink Digital Camera takes regular AA rechargeable batteries and it has the ability to turn the LCD screen off and the viewfinder capability allows you to save your battery power if you need to.

3. It’s overall design is extremely intuitive and simple to use.

4. The pictures that this camera takes are clear and detailed pictures.

5. The zoom on this camera allows you to get surprisingly close to your candid subject.

6. It even comes with a recording feature that allows you to catch any moment on video quickly and easily.

The only problem with this camera is that it is a little bigger than some of the other camera’s in its class on the market today, however, that does not take anything away from the quality pictures that this camera produces. If you are looking for a smaller camera get ready to pay for it. All in all, I would like to highly recommend this camera as a great point and shoot digital camera. It is easily my favorite camera out of the 6 other digital cameras I have owned.

If you are still unsure of the pink canon camera you are searching for or just want to read more information about the Powershot E1 pink digital camera than click either of the links in this paragraph to find all the information you need to find the best pink canon powershot camera that is right for you.
